Impacts

Intersect is making great impacts.

The Intersect Trust has brought thousands of people together through projects and events… but it’s our members who are doing great work.

Through the Intersect Network, people have created the Frocks On Bikes movement, sent a delegation of young New Zealanders to the Copenhagen climate summit, started a local farmers market, helped remove the palm oil content from chocolate bars, found great jobs, engaged large corporations in dialogue around their sustainability issues, stewarded discussions on everything from waging peace on climate change to collaborative consumption and much, much more!

Quotes from members from an evaluation of Intersect in 2010:

“Intersect is fresh. Itʼs a new approach to bringing about a better world. Itʼs magnetic.”

I learnt that my energy is best applied when it’s pro, rather than anti – and gave up on angry protests, and raging towards any stupid machine.” (Lindsay)

“Intersect led us the way to a great community of like-minded, fun-loving, and progressive group of people… ” (Jon & Sarah)

“In September of 2008 at an Auckland Intersect drinks a round table discussion was taking place where people were sharing ideas and interests. At this session Guy Shrubsole put up his hand and said “As we no doubt are aware at the end of 2009 the historic Copenhagen Climate Change conference is taking place. Youth from around the world will be attending. I think it would be great if New Zealand youth were represented.” From this simple statement began a more than year long journey which culminated in 12 young New Zealanders aged 17-26 attending the historic conference.” (Mahara)
