Trustees
The current trustees of the Intersect Trust are:
Rebecca Mills (Chair)
During the day, Rebecca is the founder of Ministry of Green, a sustainability strategy and innovation consultancy. With training in both science and policy, Rebecca has been advising at a senior level on energy, climate change, resource management and sustainability issues to both governments and business for more than ten years. Rebecca’s specialist knowledge has led her to develop innovative strategies and masterplans for many high profile, world leading and complex projects in both New Zealand and Europe. Rebecca has a passion for fashion, history and upcycling. In her spare time you might find her delighting in dusting off discarded objects to reveal new functions and beauty.
Carl Chenery
Carl’s work bridges ReGeneration (beyond sustainability), facilitation and intergenerational collaboration. He has initiated and designed many events and processes that bring people together around possibilities and ideas for a future that they want to see. He initially trained in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce, but he has re-trained himself to be an inspiring developer of effective social processes.
Carl is passionate about empowered citizens, cradle to cradle design, environmental regeneration and social justice. He’s into dialogue instead of debate. He’s a great connector. He also enjoys to dance and to dive into the waves at his local beach in Te Henga, Auckland.
Eva Lawrence
Eva is passionate about changing our world through positive and creative approaches. This includes a hearty combo of topics and techniques such as social innovation and enterprise, stunts, sustainability, ethical investment, strategic planning and group facilitation.
By day, Eva is an advisor for local board members at Auckland Council. Eva’s prior work experience has included community development, strategy, social justice and participatory education. Eva’s main interest is exploration—of other countries, ideas, underwater, bush tracks and cuisine. Eva also enjoys speaking Spanish, salsa dancing and being crafty.
Is
abella Cawthorn
By day, Isabella works at the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology in the Environment and Social Science team. By night (or at least outside working hours) she can be spotted hurtling across town on her turquoise fixed-gear bike, leading by example and exhorting women everywhere to join Frocks On Bikes.
Isabella grew up in the seaside village of Plimmerton. This was a good start to life, as she soaked in the sea, bush and a healthy community. Watching too many David Attenborough nature programmes as a child meant Isabella got interested in environmental matters before she was knee-high to a grasshopper. She still carries those inspirations with her.
Jennifer Chenery
As a new(ish) recruit to the Wild West of Auckland, Jennifer says she has now found the place where she stands firmly. She enjoys living in the bush, surrounded by Tui and Kereru while being only 30 minutes away from the CBD.
Jennifer works for the Auckland Council as a Waste Minimisation Advisor assisting businesses, communities and schools in adopting new forms of thinking around waste and resources. She gets a real sense of joy and optimism seeing behaviour change in action. She’s also involved in delivering Awakening the Dreamer Symposiums. She enjoys gardening, sewing and cycling and reckons tour cycling is the best way to travel: she’s cycled through six countries around Europe as well as NZ’s South Island.

Joshua Vial
Programmer by training, change-maker by vocation, Joshua spends most of his time building websites, exploring business opportunities and working on not-for-profit campaigns. He is the founder of Enspiral and is heavily involved with 350 Aotearoa and Regeneration.
Joshua also blogs personally and professionally. He’s interested in everything and says “diversity is the greatest wonder of this world”. His expertise (in order of inverse proficiency) is: dancing, singing, drumming, writing, talking, reading, martial arts, meditating, walking and computer stuff.

Intersect would not be what it is today without the generous involvement of our former Trustees too:
